The sounds of battle ring out as Skeletor and He-Man battle on a rickety bridge that looks as if it might go at any moment! (Indeed, the toy version was designed to do just that!) Beast Man & company apparently have the day off since Skeletor fights alone. Or maybe they're on strike to renegotiate their contracts, who knows? This rendering is based on the toy version of Snake Mountain, which looks quite different from its depiction in most media. It came to light many years later that Mattel's designers repurposed a proposed jungle playset dating to early in the MOTU line's life to create the Snake Mountain playset, explaining why it was so different. A bit of artistic license is expected, but some of artist Fred Carillo's choices here just seem odd. Some of the sinister faces embedded in the rock are given greater prominence, which is a definite plus, but the serpent is bizarrely shrunken down. The manacles near the giant demon muppet face are represented by a single oversized one that juts out into the air. It's not a bad piece, but definitely not Carillo's best work. This puzzle has the large, thin pieces typical of the line. The fit is quite snug for such thin pieces.
