Hopefully you'll be able to get ahold of a copy.
I think part of the problem with The Flash for me is that I couldn't help comparing it to the debut issue of the last Flash series, which was just over a year ago. I resolved to read that issue, as I did this one, without any bias, because I didn't want my preference for Wally to ruin it for me. I just found that issue much better than this one, and the comparison is what I think dragged this new #1 down for me. The last one is still fresh in my mind. I like Manapul and the Flash enough to stick around for at least one more issue, though.
Ivan Reis definitely draws one of the best Aquamans (Aquamen?) in recent memory. It should be a really fun series once it really gets rolling.Waylonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11401043437179086649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9030345768939930801.post-70000929839726797602011-09-28T21:17:39.000-05:002011-09-28T21:17:39.000-05:00So unfortunately my comic shop completely sold out...So unfortunately my comic shop completely sold out of All-Star Western by 2 PM (Well, except for the packs of all 13 New 52 issues at a slightly discounted price I was still unwilling to pay). So even though it was my most anticipated title of the week, I am left hoping the shop can get in more or that it will miraculously pop up at my local Barnes and Noble.

Two I did manage to purchase were Aquaman and The Flash. Wow, did I like The Flash a LOT more than you seemed to. To be fair, I have no background with Wally West whatsoever. I liked everything I saw of Barry while catching up with the Green Lantern titles via Blackest Night, etc. so I was predisposed to like Barry plenty here. Also unlike many diehard fans of Barry, I know of his history with Iris, but have never read any of it so I lack the attachment to be upset by that continuity change. What I can say is that the comic is beautiful, the writing was indeed very new reader friendly, and I felt that Barry was well-represented and someone I'd like to check back in on monthly. Not the best comic of the relaunch, but a very solid one with EXCELLENT art very fitting for The Flash.

My favorite comic of the week though was Aquaman. I am loving this new take on Aquaman, and while I credit Geoff Johns' clearly loving new take on the character for some of it, I think most of the credit should go to Ivan Reis. Reis makes Aquaman look... cool. Plus, since Blackest Night I'm a sucker for Mera, and it's obvious Johns is plenty enamored with the character as well. Great book. Easily a 4 if not a 4.5 in my mind.

I also picked up Justice League: Dark and Green Lantern: New Guardians. I'll say more tomorrow but for now? I'm a bit less enthused.

Once again, thanks for the reviews. Nice to get a bit of input from a well-read long-time fan as a near-complete newbie here.Joshistoryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18091707082842526156noreply@blogger.com
